The Self Criticism of Diosdado

“OPPOSITION DEPUTIES WHO DO NOT RECONIGZE NICOLAS MADURO AS PRESIDENT, I WILL NO RECOGNIZE THEM IN THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY”

These words were said by Diosdado Cabello, president of the National Assembly on April 16, 2013 during a regular meeting held on this Chamber when he was referring to the deputies who representing the opposition bench.  Furthermore this message was reiterated by Cabello through his personal Twitter, so his 557,000 followers could know what the opposition deputies can expect within the National Assembly.

This is not the first time that the deputy Cabello uses aggressive language to intimidate and threaten.  Opponents of the regime have heard phrases as: “YOU HAD HAD TO PRAY A LOT FOR CHAVEZ TO BE ALIVE, BECAUSE CHAVEZ WAS THE CONTENTION WALL OF MANY CRAZY IDEAS THAT SOMETIMES WE HAVE THOUGH;”  “IF YOU TRY ANY ACTION AGAINST THE PEOPLE AND AGAINST THE REVOLUTION, WE ARE GOING TO GIVE A CONVINCING ANSWER THAT YOU WILL REGRET;” “HERE THERE IS A MILITARY REVOLUTION UP AND IT MUST BE PERMANENT, IT CAN’T  BE STOP.”

The words and actions of Diosdado Cabello inevitably bring to mind the historical event called “The knight of the long knives”, which consisted of executions perpetrated by the Nazi Germany in 1934 when Hitler and his followers executed enemies and political dissidents and arrested most of those who felt threatened and who criticized the regime. Mr. Cabello;  are the declarations of April 16 the result of the deep self-criticism that should be make after that the results of the Sunday’s elections were released?  Beyond criticizing your point of view and pointing out that it is illegal and contrary to the constitution text  the censorship that pretend to impose to the deputies of the opposition in the National Assembly, is appropriate to express that this type of attitudes violate the human rights as the freedom of expression  and also, remind you that the vision of the institution that you preside is “being a national legislature, democratic, leading, multicultural and decentralized State that consolidates the values of freedom, independence, peace, solidarity, the well-being, the territorial integrity the coexistence and relevance of laws for this and future generations.”

Values that unfortunately are questioned, because actually are promoting the violence and intolerance, the abuse of power, disrespect; within the institution that should be an inclusion model for the country.
The situation above described is of great concern to assume that after the deep self-criticism of Cabello due to the results of the elections of April 14 and in order to continue with the revolutionary process initiated by Hugo Chavez, is intended to emulate to the best Nazi stile “THE NIGHT OF THE LONG KNIVES.”
